2012 is winding down, along with the U.S. Mint. In fact, today, December 17th, is the last day of the year to purchase its 2012 precious metal coins. The last orders will have to be submitted by 5 pm Eastern Standard Time.
Sales of American Eagle gold bullion coins more than tripled in November of this year from 41,000 ounces sold in November 2011 to 131,000 ounces.
The U.S. Mint also reported that gold sales increased 132% from 59,000 ounces in October 2012 to 136,500 gold ounces in November 2012.
With the election maintaining the status quo in Washington, the fiscal cliff fiasco and no end in sight for quantitative easing, it is not hard to see why.
Even if you miss the tight deadline for the U.S. Mint's 2012 sales, you don't have to miss out. It is not too late to pick up gold and silver coins.
