Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) might not create or support all the jobs it claims, but it does inspire the production and marketing of a lot of accessories. One of the companies trying to ride the Apple wave is DoMark International, which says it is dedicated to revolutionizing the efficiency and capabilities of a new generation of mobile devices.
To that end, it has introduced, through a subsidiary called SolaWerks, an electronic sleeve for the iPad that is designed to recharge the tablet using photovoltaic cells embedded on the sleeves back. Called Solapad, the device, which SolaWerks says can harvest energy from both sunlight and fluorescent light, fits all three generations of iPad and includes a speaker system, according to the company.
A tagline anchors two images of the Solapad on the SolaWerks website: Remember when your battery used to run out and you had to plug it into the wall? Wow, that was so 2011. The Web page also includes a caption that reads Let Siri be heard! so the site has not yet been updated to reflect the fact that the iPads released so far dont include Siri. The company says it plans to enhance the Solapads design to make it acceptable for military use.
As much as anything, though, the DoMark/SolaWerks website is a solicitation to prospective investors, highlighting the companys claim that it is positioned in the fastest growing market section and referencing its OTC ticker, DOMK.
The Solawerks site is set up to allow people to reserve a Solapad. Weve contacted the company to confirm when the device will be released or what its price will be, and will include that information here when we hear back.
