On Wednesday, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT ) announced that it has won two contracts from the U.S. Army under the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor� program. The value of the combined contracts is stated as $161.7 million.
The contracts call upon Lockheed to provide and install a total of 482�Modernized Day Sensor Assembly�(M-DSA) Modernized Laser Rangefinder Designator (M-LRFD) kits on Army Apache attack helicopters built by Boeing. These are in addition to the 92 M-DSAM-LRFD kits that the Army ordered from Lockheed in February of last year as the first lot in the series of contracts.
In a statement describing the two new contract awards, Lockheed noted that delivery of the Lot 1 units is expected to begin early this year, while subsequent lots will be taking place through Q3 2016.
